The California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC) Inaugural Teacher Fellows Program is now accepting applications!
Join a powerful cohort of high school educators committed to shaping the future of Black Studies education in California.
As a CABSC Teacher Fellow, you will:

Engage with Dr. LaGarrett J. King’sTeaching Black History Framework

Explore curriculum foundations rooted in the California Reparations Task Force’s work
-
Participate in allpractice-based learning and culturally responsive pedagogy workshops
-
Pilot interdisciplinary Black Studies curriculum modules in your classroom during the 2025-26
-
Submit all student work samples and written reflections on:

Your teaching process
-
Student learning and engagement
-
Your personal development as a fellow
-
Recommendations for future cohorts
-
Receive a $1000 stipend
-
Optional continuing education credit available
Program Details:

Who Should Apply: High school teachers (grades 9–12) interested in Black Studies, social and racial justice in education, and culturally responsive teaching
-
Program Duration: August 2025 - August 2026

Four virtual workshops over the course of the 2025 - 2026 academic year
-
Stipend: $1000 per participant (*stipend is contingent upon participation in all workshops and completion of all deliverables)
