Description
The Oakland Teacher Residency (OTR) research project examines the school-based experiences of teacher residents working in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
The research study has three main goals:
- How do Oakland Unified Teacher Residents describe their preparation to teach in the Oakland Unified School District?
- What are the school-based experiences of Oakland Unified Teacher Residents?,
- How do these experiences shape Oakland Unified Teacher Residents’ desire to stay (or leave) in their schools or in the teaching profession?
The purpose of the study is to inform school and district leaders about the experiences of uncredentialed teachers in schools. Teacher responses will be recorded. The findings may be presented at scientific meetings and to district officials.
