This research study explores GYO-IL's programmatic design and the experiences of GYO-IL candidates. The goals of the research project are as follows: (1) share the experiences and practices of GYO-IL candidates, (2) support GYO-IL continuous improvement, and (3) garner data that can help sustain and build new GYO programs.

- To what degree is GYO-Illinois (GYO-IL) developing teacher candidates to become community-connected teachers?
- How do GYO-IL teacher candidates describe their experiences in their preparation programs?
- To what degree do GYO-IL teacher candidates describe their preparation as equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and mindsets to teach and stay in their schools?
- To what degree do GYO-IL teacher candidates characterize asset-based/community connected pedagogies?
