CABSC Teacher Fellows

The California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC) Inaugural Teacher Fellows Program brings together a dedicated cohort of high school educators committed to shaping the future of Black Studies education in California.

As a CABSC Teacher Fellow, you will:

  • Engage with Dr. LaGarrett J. King’sTeaching Black History Framework

  • Explore curriculum foundations rooted in the California Reparations Task Force’s work

  • Participate in allpractice-based learning and culturally responsive pedagogy workshops

  • Pilot interdisciplinary Black Studies curriculum modules in your classroom during the 2025-26

  • Submit all student work samples and written reflections on:

    • Your teaching process

    • Student learning and engagement

    • Your personal development as a fellow

    • Recommendations for future cohorts

  • Receive a $1000 stipend

  • Optional continuing education credit available

Program Details:

  • Who Should Apply: High school teachers (grades 9–12) interested in Black Studies, social and racial justice in education, and culturally responsive teaching

  • Program Duration: August  2025 - August 2026

    • Four virtual workshops over the course of the 2025 - 2026 academic year

  • Stipend: $1000 per participant (*stipend is contingent upon participation in all workshops and completion of all deliverables)

  • Optional continuing education credit
