Interdisciplinary Focus
This curriculum is intentionally designed to be interdisciplinary and adaptable. While it meets California’s Ethnic Studies course requirements, the modules are also suited for integration into a variety of subjects for grades 9–12. They may be taught as standalone units or embedded within broader academic content areas such as History, English, Social Science, and the Arts, supporting a more integrated and inclusive approach to Black Studies.
Module Design
Each module is California-focused and includes a summary, essential questions, key skills and knowledge, assessments, and sample lessons. Modules also identify applicable disciplines, grade levels, and course types, and align with relevant content standards and the Black History Framework.
