Dr. Nina L. Gilbert is the inaugural Executive Director of the Morehouse Center for Excellence in Education (MCEE) at Morehouse College where she also serves as Chair and Assistant Professor in the Education Department. Dr. Gilbert is a Pahara-Aspen Fellow and completed her doctoral work in Educational and Organizational Leadership from The University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a M.Ed. from Clark Atlanta University and a BA in Psychology from the University of West Georgia.

Prior to her transition into higher education, Dr. Gilbert held various teaching and leadership roles in the K-12 sector and founded Georgia’s first single-gender charter school, Ivy Preparatory Academy.

As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Gilbert is interested in using multi-modal and participatory research methods to identify and address critical issues in education.
