Karina Esparza

Job title:
Undergraduate Student Researcher
Bio/CV:

Karina Esparza is an undergraduate Fiat Lux Scholar at UC Berkeley studying Anthropology and Education. Her passion for community-based advocacy developed at the Raíces Center, leading the Center in its 47th year as Internal Executive Director. Working to recruit and retain first-generation, low-income, students of color in higher education, Karina coordinated the efforts of 85 undergraduate interns and volunteers and designed and facilitated the leadership development class for two semesters.

Karina’s commitment to educational equity extends beyond her work at UC Berkeley; her fellowship at Princeton's School of Public and International Affairs Junior Summer Institute deepened her interest in using policy and research to strengthen and develop community-based schools, enabling underserved communities to thrive.
