The California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC) Project recently held a 2-day Summer Institute for a subset of the educators who have been involved in the curriculum development.
The intention was to foster a collaborative community focused on uplifting the experiences of Black people where people learn together (through guest speakers, experiences, conversations) and from one another.
Over the course of the two days we:
-
Connected in community
-
Grounded our work in the field of African American Studies, and The California Reparations Report(link is external) recommendations.
-
Learned from current Black Studies Teachers
-
Revisited and extended our existing curriculum modules.
