California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC), CREEO

CREEO at UC Berkeley is proud to share a significant milestone in developing the California Black Studies Curriculum (CABSC). Watch this video to learn more about the progress of this transformative project and to hear directly from the critical voices engaged in the work. 
Under the leadership of Dr. Travis J. Bristol and Dr. Tolani Britton, CABSC focuses on developing a California-centric Black Studies curriculum based on the exhaustive research of the California state’s first-in-the-nation Reparations Task Force.

In early 2023, the Task Force invited CREEO to implement one of the key recommendations from its final report: to design a Black Studies Curriculum for the state. 
By the 2023-2024 academic year,  educators, and high school students across California to co-design a set of curriculum modules (meet the team here)
This past summer 2024, a smaller group of educators worked on building out the modules, and work will continue throughout the year, with the goal to pilot the lessons in the summer of 2025.
