Emma Rose Neal is a senior at UC Berkeley, majoring in Educational Sciences and Media Studies. Her passion for education began as a piano teacher in Marin County, where she established a thriving studio, teaching 45 students weekly across all ages. This experience inspired her dedication to helping others realize their potential and build self-confidence through learning. She continued this passion through tutoring elementary students in underfunded schools with Teach for America, which ultimately inspired her research assistant role at the Berkeley School of Education with Professor Trinidad, where she studied how organizations like Teach for America can improve educational outcomes.
In addition to her teaching and research, Emma has been active in student advocacy. At College of Marin, she served as Student Body President, where she took leadership in addressing student needs in institutional decision-making. She continues her advocacy at the Associated Students of University of California as a Transfer Advocate in the Pilipinx community. As a first-generation immigrant and college student, Emma strongly values the education she has received and is committed to making high-quality education accessible to all.
